Machine data capture (MDC)

The machine data capture (MDC) is the interface between the production equipment and the information processing. Production orders can be carefully planned and effectively steered using this information.

Essential machine data are:

• Number of A1 pieces and rejects
• Cycles
• Capacity utilisation / effectiveness
• Production time
• Availability and reliability
• Machine status (Primary time, Secondary time, breakdown, service, maintenance)

The captured data can be transferred via interfaces directly to an ERP or MES (Manufacturing Execution System). This way the actual status of the production is always available. Only then can the combination of MDC data coupled with ERP or MES data aid in the planning and steering of the production with the aim of reaching an optimal level. Rigging and throughput times can be, based on this data reduced to a minimum. At the same time the stocks of half finished parts can also be optimised therefore reducing factory overheads. Furthermore the planning of your processes will be automatically bettered and your adherence to delivery dates will be maximised. Machine data capture is an essential factor for the increasing of productivity and of course it also increases you own competitiveness.
